Annual festival Celebrating Local Activism

This year’s Earth Walk is set to be a fun family event. We have a kids’ punk rock band: 'Oh! Ogopogo!' opening the show in Centennial Square, followed by Victoria's own 'Tower of Dudes'.

It all starts with a Fun Family Participatory Parade with Samba de Soleil and Friends. It truly is an uplifting event rich in Victoria's History. For 36 years the Victoria Police have been escorting the Peace Movements Parade through all its many phases. The Raging Grannies will be there too - bring your banners, your signs and your neighbours. Come meet many cause centered organizations working for a better tomorrow! Help celebrate our local democracy!

This is the 36th year of celebrating our Community with a Concert and an Environmental Fair on the closest Saturday to Earth Day. The Earth Walk starts at the BC Legislature Building, on the front driveway at 11:45. Once assembled the Parade dances up Government Street to the rhythms of Samba de Soleil and Friends! This is a fun all-inclusive event; the Victoria Police will be co-ordinating traffic and facilitating a great safe environment for this family event. We encourage everyone to come out and participate with your community and your favourite cause-centred organizations.

At Centennial Square, the Raging Grannies - an international sensation that sparked here in Victoria – will sing!

We also have children’s punk band, ‘Oh! Ogopogo!’ opening the show. They are no ordinary children’s music act. Oh! Ogopogo! encourages children to get up and dance and sing along. This is fast, energetic and exciting music for active kids who want to get down to some catchy tunes.

Then the Tower of Dudes take the stage. They are an East meets West gypsy punk accordion rock band. Their lively stage presence and delivery inspires frenzied dancing and reckless abandon but it’s their expansive repertoire of original songs that set them apart from other acts mining traditional folk music and make them a band for almost any occasion.
