Energy giant Kinder Morgan is proposing to build an export-only pipeline across B.C. and transport 890,000 barrels a day of climate changing Alberta oilsands to the ecologically sensitive Salish Sea and beyond. Caught in between a bungled review process and a mammoth industry, are the lives and livelihoods of those with serious concerns. Mary, a retired school teacher in Burnaby, B.C., has already had an older part of the pipeline burst on her home. Korean immigrants Michael and Kay Moon can’t speak the official language of the government’s hearing process on the pipeline that crosses through their community. And one after another First Nations, economists, scientists, businessmen and mayors unveil serious flaws in the proposal and review process that could directly affect our democracy, economy and way of life for generations to come.
