And since emerging onto the Vancouver music scene he has done nothing but prove this statement to be true.

Christopher Arruda: It�s been a long time coming, but Vancouver Island musician Christopher Arruda has decided to make a stand on his own. Having spent his late teens and early twenties fronting popular funk-rock band "The Lady Esther" and the ambitious post-rock outfit "Open, parachute!", the twenty-five year old artist has returned with a renewed sense of passion, drive and love for the music he creates. His performances are bold and varied. One moment a boistrous shout, the next a soft whisper, Christopher strives to connect with the audience through unbridled fervor and a captivating presence. Influenced by the likes of Thom Yorke, Sufjan Stevens, Rachel Yamagata and Sarah Slean, his sound strikes a chord somewhere between pop, rock and folk music but his only goal is to create inspiring soundscapes that are honest and true.

What do you need to know about me other than what I sound like? How �bout I�m 32 years old, a proud father and a peaceful man. I�m prone to displays of inappropriate humor following the consumption of alcohol and people who say �I can�t� drive me crazy.

Like Neil Young, I�m an epileptic who loves both the scream of distortion and the peace of the acoustic. Like Eddie Vedder, I wear all of my influences on my sleeves, where Tom Waits, Buddy Holly, Warren Zevon and Bruce Springsteen all reside.

Music is life and I�m just as happy playing to ten people in an intimate house concert as I am playing to 10,000 at a folk or country festival. Either way, a day above ground playing my songs and supporting my family doing so, is a great day.
