DOC MACLEAN & MORGAN DAVIS come to Headliners

National Steel Blues Emergency Tour

Saturday November 10th - 7:30pm - doors at 7pm - Tickets $20

Doc MacLean is pleased to announce that veteran bluesman Morgan Davis will join him on Canadas 7th annual, biggest little blues tour this fall. The National Steel Blues Emergency Tour will bring its blues medicine coast to coast, answering some 50 calls to nine provinces. The songs and stories in the round event promises to prescribe in venues both large and small, grand and humble.

Morgan Davis is a Canadian icon, says MacLean of his much celebrated, much awarded co-star. Hes one of the greatest storyteller-entertainers, one of the best songwriters in the genre, one of the most respected musicians. Im thrilled to have Morgan on the Tour.

The Tour will begin in Atlantic Canada, in September, finishing some ten weeks later in western Canada. This years theme Blues Emergency was selected as both artists view the blues as a healing art form, and the title plays an obvious, humorous riff on the pairing of their names. The Blues is actually in great shape across Canada, states MacLean, but we will make house calls!

Fans will look forward to this one time pairing of two of Canadas best known and most travelled blues storytellers and entertainers. The National Steel Blues Emergency Tour schedule is on the blog address stated below.

The Artists:

Morgan Davis has been touring Canada, the United States and Europe for nearly four decades. His performances draw from a rich tradition of country blues and from his own award winning compositions- all infused with the trademark wit and humour that have made him a favourite of audiences everywhere.

Davis' songwriting talent first received international recognition when Colin James covered his searing ballad "Why'd You Lie".
Since that time his own recordings on Electro-Fi records, have garnered critical acclaim, and numerous nominations and awards for songwriting, production, vocals, and guitar playing. Noteably, "Painkiller" won four Maple Blues Awards and went on to take the Juno for Blues Album of the Year. http://www.morgandavis.com

Doc MacLean. A blues vagabond writing from the dark side of the blues highway. Hes spent the last forty years exploring the road atlas from A to Z surfacing sometimes on big stages in fancy halls, sometimes streetside trolling for change and a meal. No managers, agents, record companies. No fancy new guitars. Hes a traveller, a collector and teller of songs and stories a songster in the blues tradition. Blues Revue magazine has called him the Prince of Darkness.

Over two hundred shows a year across Canada in a battered Lincoln. A working mans 1929 National and a pocket full of harmonicas. Doc MacLeans 7th Annual National Steel Blues Tour continues to deliver real music to real people in real places.
