The Nanaimo Museum's new feature exhibit highlights stories from the Departure Bay neighborhood including its roots as a Snuneymuxw winter village, a haunted mansion built by the Dunsmuir family, a jail, crimes committed by visiting sailors and the installation of BC's first telephone.

The area's heritage will be explored through photos, paintings and artifacts from the museum's collections and on loan from local families and organizations.
