Digital Folk is a video game/costume party, music and dance performance/installation built around the desire to revisit how communities gather to play music, dance and tell stories.
Digital Folk takes place on stage yet in a scale model built out of an in-between world that is not quite a home and not quite a theatre. Where the desire for music, dance and community is focused through the lens of video game culture to create an irreverent and interactive world of virtual and physical community, feedback and paradox.
Digital Folk will be performed three times at the Malaspina Theatre at VIU on June 7th, 2019, at 7, 8, and 9 PM. Farrell Gilmour will DJ the lobby during the shows and move to the stage after for an all out closing dance party for all. One ticket gets you into any or all three showings!
