Digital Arts Festival

These programs are tools that many beginners can use to make art of a fundamental nature, yet when manipulated by a skilled artist produce challenging and complex works that cannot be, as some traditionalists claim, "created with the click of a mouse".
As with any emerging art movement, digital artists have encountered resistance and misunderstanding, despite the fact that digital art has been around since the 1950's! The ready accessibility of computers and other digital technologies - much like the 35mm film cameras of the past - has led to misconceptions that it is the technology, not the artist, which creates the work.
Digital artists manipulate light in many ways - for example, painting pixels (the basic unit of a display or an image file), constructing 2D and 3D models layering images, and adding other elements in computer "postwork". The digital artworks can then be projected of displayed on screens, or printed with archival inks on paper, canvas, acrylic and other substrates.
