Dear John: Postcards with a Past
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Did you know that Canada was the first non-European country to issue a "postal card"? Released on June 1 1871, just 3 weeks before BC joined Confederation, this first, pictureless card was a pretty dull affair. Not so the hundreds of colourful postcards in history researcher Nick Russell's collection. Author of ‘Victoria Then & Now: Postcards from the Past’, Dr. Russell will display images and share some of the stories, intrigues, family feuds and romances gleaned from these century-old cards in this illustrated lecture.
Join us at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum in Fairfield on Thursday, October 19th at 7:30PM.
Tickets $10.
