Canadian blues guitar virtuoso David Gogo follows up his JUNO-nominated and WCMA-award-winning album Soul Bender with a charming and infectious Christmas gift to his fans.
To celebrate the new album Christmas With The Blues, Gogo will be performing the songs off this album and others with his acoustic trio throughout the holiday season. features seven blues-inspired standards and two originals. The album is a blend of traditional blues with a few hints of roots, gospel and rock 'n roll, and highlights Gogo's tasteful playing style and razor-sharp wit throughout. Also sitting in on the recording are some of Canada's best musicians including Billy Hicks, David Vest, Phil Dwyer, Shawn Hall, Tina Jones, and Camille Miller.
For a man who lives on a Christmas tree farm, you'd think a Christmas album would be a no-brainer, but it took Gogo some time to find the bluesy side of the holiday. Not wanting to make your typical traditional album, Gogo said, "I wasn't originally interested in the idea of a Christmas album, but then I started going back through songs from the 40s, 50s and 60s, and there was a lot of cool stuff. That's when I started to get really excited."
Hitting stores on November 13, 2012 and released by Gogo's long-time collaborators, Cordova Bay Records, Christmas With The Blues has all the makings of a perennial favourite!
