Dave Lang & the Insolent Rabble at the Duncan Showroom
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Dave Lang and his group the Insolent Rabble play jazz and swing like nobody else you’ve ever heard. The music is fast, funny, and full of chords. They change opinions about the genre, featuring original songs like “Ou Est La Vache” and “She Just Went Crazy”, as well as arrangements of jazz standards that meet their standards. They have appeared everywhere from house concerts to Rifflandia and The Vancouver Island MusicFest. In 2014, they logged nearly 200 paid performances.
Lang’s songs have been covered by the likes of Corb Lund, Neko Case, Carolyn Mark, and Geoff Berner. He returned the favour with his recorded version of Geoff Berner’s “Phony Drawl” for Berner’s project “Festival Man,” which was released in fall of 2013.
Dave Lang has written music for film and television and has studied with the Berklee College of Music, The University of Texas, The University of Rochester, and The Victoria Conservatory of Music.
