The idea of Dancing with the Docs came when a student of Arthur Murray Victoria’s young son began his battle with Cancer early this year. We wanted to take a negative and turn it into something positive as well as show our support to her.

After we began the journey we learned that nearly 97% of all children battling Cancer in British Columbia are treated here in Victoria; this statistic seemed to strike a chord that made us want to work harder for the cause. Cancer is the second largest cause of death among children and it is on the rise, with the help of many organizations and events millions of dollars have been raised in search of a cure to save our kids. Over the last 20 years the survival rate of children with Cancer has risen by 60%; from 20% to and 80% survival rate today. We want to be a part of the cure. Proceeds from this event will go directly to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Victoria General to help purchase any new equipment and supplies that may be needed to make the battle for these children just a little easier. Dancing with the Docs will be held at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in their stunning Crystal Ballroom in April, 2015.

Dinner will be catered by the hotel itself; each attendee will receive a 3 course meal with the purchase of their ticket. The meal will include a salad, entrée, and dessert. There will be a bar with a bartender on duty during the event to serve cocktails through the night. After dinner is adjourned the events will begin.

A “Dancing with the Stars” style dance competition will take place between 6 doctors that have taken lessons with Arthur Murray, prior to the event. We will have celebrity guest judges come to determine the winner of the competition and hand out prizes to the doctors that competed. There will be tons of time for open dancing as well as performances by students and teachers at Arthur Murray Victoria.

We have sponsors that have generously donated items towards a silent auction for the event and any other needs we may have for them. The Dancing with the Docs Charity Event will donate all proceeds to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation
