Opening Reception with artists Saturday March 5, 3-5pm West Coast artist Dan MacDougall makes photographs on his walks along Dallas Road. He uses them as sketches for paintings which are then rephotographed and printed on fabric. He then manipulates these into 3 dimensional sculptures encased in bell jars similar to how museums might preserve fragments of nature.
The juxtaposition of painting and sculpture engage the viewer to consider a non-objective understanding. The Sea Wall Project paintings and 3D bell jar sculptures will be displayed at Eclectic Gallery February 29 to April 2.
Alanna Sparanese utilizes the ancient encaustic process combining bees wax, resin, pigment and photo transfer, fused by blow torch, rendering subtle dreamlike images. Alanna”s encaustic paintings will be showing concurrently at Eclectic.
