Cowichan Theatre presents Hawksley Workman

Hawksley plays guitar, drums, bass, keyboards and sings, often switching between those instruments when playing live. Workmans music, although frequently mislabeled as folk, pop, or even glam-rock, vigorously rejects simple categorization.
If there was one defining theme in Workmans world, it is sensuality. He is gifted with a truly poetic command of the language. Many of his songs are simple studies in the physical and poetic expressions of pure sexuality. Dont go to a Hawksley show expecting the usual tormented poet fare: his lyrics are infrequently concerned with the entanglements of the mind. Instead, he paints lyrical pictures about passion and beauty with an elegant, frequently surreal, but always alluring brush.
Workmans production work (18 albums) has been attached to many successful artists including Tegan and Sara, Serena Ryder, Great Big Sea, Sarah Slean, and Jeremy Fisher. Hes headlined prestigious venues like Massey Hall in Toronto and The Olympia in Paris, as well as opening for heroes Morrissey, David Bowie, and The Cure.
