Cowichan Aboriginal Festival of Film & Art

The Cowichan Aboriginal Film Festival shines a spotlight on many different indigenous cultures and the emerging voices of many independent film makers throughout the world. We welcome films of all genres. The festival also features exciting performances and workshops which are open to all.
Each year, artists come together to support the festival, with a gallery display or carving, paintings, jewelery, knitting, and more. The Coast Salish Gala Reception that kicks off the festival each year welcomes the guest artists and the film makers to the annual event.
The festival also acts as a catalyst to involve and support youth who are interested in exploring and developing their skills in film and media arts. Each year, young film makers travel to the Cowichan from across BC and the Pacific Northwest. They come together to join in the festival workshops, to look at what other young film makers are producing and to enjoy the festival events.
