In this continuation of Contemporary Art I, the course will begin in the 1990s with a discussion of the different roles that art plays for the artist and for the community. Other topics include the spectacle and the everyday; narrative and abstraction; the economics of the art market; and art in the age of surveillance capitalism. It is not necessary to have completed Contemporary Art I to enroll in the second part of the course.
