Sat, Jan 30th, 8-10pm, Concert – Boston’s Hoot & Holler West Coast Tour – Bluegrass / Old Time / Americana They’re embarking on their second West Coast tour this winter as a fiddle and guitar duo that plays a mix of original and traditional American music with influences from folk, bluegrass, jazz and old-time music.

Fiddle-Guitar duo Hoot and Holler was born of a love of American folk music, nurtured in Boston's burgeoning string band scene, and inspired by the authenticity and enduring spirit of traditional Appalachian mountain music. Sometimes they draw influence from Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

Their tender harmonizing and songwriting comes across as simple, honest, and fresh to the ears. They can also embody the essence of driving old time fiddle tunes: fast, shuffling, heavy foot stomping, and an impenetrable groove. Described as the perfect cross section of grit and technique, you can expect the full range of temperament from Amy Alvey (fiddle, vocals) and Mark Kilianski (guitar, vocals) in any given performance.

Since its inception, Hoot and Holler has entertained audiences all over the country. Since 2013, they've joined the Massachusetts Walking Tour with Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards, where they annually hike 100 miles on Massachusetts trails to play free community concerts. With a 2014 EP, Nothing If Not Young, 2015 single "Is This Goodbye/Slow and Steady", and several regional tours under their belt, Hoot and Holler are set to embark on their second west coast tour.
