Friday, March 19th, 2021
12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Comox Valley residents are invited to participate in a local solidarity rally in downtown Courtenay at the 17th St. Bridge (on the unceded and traditional territories of the Coast Salish and Kwakwaka'wakw peoples.)

Bring a sign, and dress up colourfully for the occasion if you like! We will be lining the road, so please be prepared to practise both pedestrian safety rules and COVID-19 health guidelines*.

We ask everyone planning to attend to bring a mask with them while respecting social distancing regulations.

Please DO NOT ATTEND if you:

- Are feeling ill.

- Have been in contact with someone who is suspected of having COVID-19

- Have been outside of Canada within the last 14 days.

Forest March BC is a community organized movement elevating voices across the province that advocate for a holistic approach to forestry policy.

Our message is clear, we are asking local and provincial governments to:

-Prioritize ecosystem health, with emphasis on preserving biodiversity.

-Formally invite front line communities to strategic planning on resource allocation and the management of public land

-Prohibit private corporations from having absolute authority over public land

-We call upon BC Premier John Horgan to honour his commitment to the full recommendations of the Old Growth Strategic Review Panel. We also call upon the Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Katrine Conroy, MLA Cullen and MLA Russell to uphold their mandates.

The Fairy Creek Watershed (unceded Pacheedaht First Nation territory on southwest Vancouver Island) is one old growth ecosystem under imminent threat from industrial logging. Courtenay's rally on March 19th will also provide information about supporting forest defenders there on the front lines right now! See for further information or the Fairy Creek Blockade page on Facebook.

If you won't be attending a rally, there are other actions you can take in solidarity with Forest March BC 2021. Visit to find out how to get involved!

One immediate action to take is the following:

Contact Premiere John Horgan and ask for an immediate stop to old growth logging in Fairy Creek and beyond. Time is running out for BC's dwindling old growth forests!
