The Community Energy Conference & Social is an all day event with educational presentations until 4:45 pm, followed by a social until 6:00 pm. Ticket price includes a film showing on Friday April 22nd (Earth Day).
Keynote speakers are John Farrell, Director of Democratic Energy at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and widely known as the guru of distributed energy (by video), and Alex Love, General Manager of Nelson Hydro, sponsor of Nelson Community Solar Garden (on-site presentation). This will be followed by over a dozen workshops on energy-related topics including: • Why Community Solar Gardens? • Rooftop Solar 101 • Electric Vehicles – Should you Own One? • The Latest in Heat Pumps • Low Carbon Investing • Electric Bikes Are Awesome! • High Efficiency Wood Stoves and Biomass Digesters • Home Energy Retrofit – Is it worth it? • Low Carbon Travel • Year Round Harvest with Linda Gilkeson • Lessons Learned off the Grid
There will also be on-site demonstrations and tours of the high school rooftop solar array. Kindercare will be available on site.
