Collage is an excellent way to develop compositions or ideas for paintings and it can also be a really exciting element to include as part of the painting process. This workshop introduces students to the different ways collage can be used in painting including as an underpainting, a way to activate a surface as well as making a work entirely from painted collage papers, as in Matisse’s “cut-outs”.
