Collaborations with Music and Dance: A Composer and Artistic Director's Perspective

Vancouver-based composer Owen Underhill addresses various approaches to collaboration between composers and choreographers, and the challenges and rewards of presenting live dance with live music.
Underhill will present excerpts of his compositions as well as with the dance and examples of the Turning Point Ensemble’s collaborations involving dance, including its original production of Erik Satie's Relâche.
Underhill, a guest of UVic’s Orion Series in Fine Arts, is active as a composer, conductor, artistic director and faculty member in the School for Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University.
