Clean A Carpet Workshop

Roll up your sleeves at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum for an in-person workshop with one of BC's leading textile conservators. On Sunday June 12, from 11-4, learn how to care for your favourite heirloom carpet or rug.
Carpets catch dirt. Vibrant colours can become dimmed by daily traffic, spills attract bedbugs & mites and foster buildup of allergens and bacteria. Naturally most people turn to expensive professionals but with expert guidance coupled with Victoria's clean, soft water and a little splashing there is no reason that you can't do the work yourself! Colleen Wilson is a textile conservator with 45 years experience. With her blend of humour and expert knowledge, she will discuss colour testing, detergency, drying as well as different cleaning techniques and the carpets they suit. Colleen and participants will put theory into practice by cleaning an antique hall runner.
This is a hands-on workshop. Be prepared to get down on your knees and be prepared to get a little wet. Please note, this is an outdoor workshop, so dress accordingly. Fee is $55/person. Includes tea, pack yourself a light lunch. Spots are limited so book yours at https://tinyurl.com/mtnjvf84.
All proceeds are in support of the volunteer run Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum.
