Dr. Chris Waldo (Assistant Prof., U. Washington) will present a lecture entitled: Immigrant Muse: Inventing the Asian American Sappho.
Christopher Waldo is a Korean American adoptee who grew up in rural Vermont. He received a BA in Greek and Latin from the University of Vermont and a PhD in Classics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently working on a book manuscript on the victory odes of Pindar and Bacchylides. His other interests include tragedy, Greek historiography, and Asian American reception of the classical tradition. He is a Co-Chair of the Asian and Asian American Classical Caucus.
