Còig Trio - live from Cape Breton

Còig, one of Atlantic Canada’s most exciting Celtic traditional groups, brings their live show to Sidney’s Mary Winspear Centre on April 21, 2024. With a fiery Celtic style as their musical core, Còig offers a fresh and exhilarating mix of traditional tunes, lively instrumentals, and contemporary songs performed on over a dozen instruments in non-traditional ways.
Còig Trio features the superb talents of Rachel Davis on fiddle and vocals, Darren McMullen on vocals, fiddles, guitar, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles, and more, and the driving musical force of Zakk Cormier on guitar and Acadian foot-percussion.
Còig’s five recordings and lively stage show have won them fans across North America, Europe, and Australia, as well as a Canadian Folk Music Award, a JUNO nomination, and multiple East Coast Music Awards.
"The crowd clearly loved all of it, clapping and stomping along. The band would take turns on some of the songs to come to the front of the stage to jig. They got a standing ovation twice and came back out for a triumphant encore. If you ever get the chance to hear Còig live – GO! And bring your dancing shoes. My feet still move every time I hear one of their songs (and up to half an hour afterwards)."
