Good day, My name is Scott Ferron and I am the organizer and coordinator of the Helmet Heads, which are fuzzy elmo looking covers placed overtop of our motorcycle helmets when we go riding. I am organizing a food drive and toy run for the sick and recovering kids and parents at the Victoria General hospital.
The Helmet Head Canada Group is running an event called the Christmas Lights Parade Drive. This parade event will be on Government street and my group will be running up to 50 motorcycles to escort Santa down the road from the Parliament Buildings to Centennial Square.
At Centennial Square, 3 large tri-walls will be located for the general public to donate towards the hospital needs.
On Dec 1st, we are running in the Sidney Parade of Lights, with a similar set up at the end of the parade route.
We hope to brighten the day for the children and parents of the VGH.
As an infant, I was in the hospital to gain weight at 6 months old, so I have an intimate knowledge of what my mother, father and older sister went through while I was in there for weeks on end.
Many families endure so much hardship throughout their child’s admittance at the hospital. We should help out to make sure they do not have to worry about food and toys while they are stuck in their recovery room for days and weeks. The children’s well-being should be the number one priority for parents.
