Chris Ronald is the featured performer at The Victoria Folk Music Society on August 11.
Chris Ronalds vocal and songwriting talent have brought him to perform in Europe and Canada. The soulful folksingers natural ability to combine original melody and meaningful lyrics emerged at age 15. Since then, Chris has amassed a collection of expertly crafted contemporary folk songs that have gained him a passionately loyal audience. And Chris following continues to grow with every festival, showcase, house concert, and coffee house he plays.
Chris emigrated from his native England to Canada in 2002, and his music has been described as a meeting of British roots and North American folk with detectable influences including Neil Young, James Taylor, Ralph McTell, and Don McLean, to name just a few. In live performances, Chris also draws on his talents as a storyteller and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, harmonica, ukulele) to deliver a show that can be enjoyed by all ages.
Chris has released two albums and is currently working on a third with award-winning producer John MacArther Ellis. Chris latest CD, Turning Tides, was self-produced in spare time away from his duties as a stay-at-home-dad. It received five-star reviews from music press such as The Georgia Straight and Roots Music Report, and has been aired nationally and internationally on CBC and BBC Radio.
