Encore! Presents:  Come Sing With Us!

Encore! Women's Choir sends a special invitation to all choral/ensemble singers to join them for an afternoon of inspired singing on Saturday, Nov 8th at Duncan United Church, for two special workshops being given by Dr. Adam Con.  Encore! is delighted to welcome Dr. Con, Assistant Prof of Music at the University of Victoria's Faculty of Music Education, to the Cowichan Valley.

Dr. Con in highly regarded in choral circles in Canada and the U.S. as a conductor, a visionary, a respected teacher of conducting and a leader in the advocacy of music education.  A native of Vancouver, he received a BA. in Music Education (Secondary Insturmental and Choral) and an M.A. in Music Education (Elementary), from the University of British Columbia.  He earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Music Education (Choral Conducting Emphasis) from Florida State University.  During his time at Florida State he studied with Rodney Eichenberger, Andre Thomas, Clifford Madsen and Judy Bowers. 

Dr. Con is third generation Chinese Canadian and describes his approach to choral singing as holistic through a unique blend of kinesthetic whole body movement and eastern philosphy.  His approach provides inspiration to singers of all ages in mind, body and spirit.  Dr. Con't motto is "Music is more than notes in motion; music is notes in Emotion".

The SATB workshop will begin at 1:00 p.m. and run until 2:45 p.m. at which time the sopranos and altos will be dismissed.  The workshop will continue for tenors and basses from 3:00 until 4:15 p.m.  Cost breakdown:  SATB 1:00-2:45p.m. - $20    SATB/TB 1:00p.m. - 4:15p.m. $25  TB 3:00p.m.-4:15p.m. $15
