In the early 1970s, a folk musician from Toronto named Raffi Cavoukian accepted an offer to perform for school children. This led to more school performances, and soon a gratifying new career path presented itself. Before long, Raffi was born. Soon widely renowned, Raffi wrote many classic childrens hits such as Baby Beluga and Bananaphone. His music was catchy, but it was the respect that he showed for his young audience members that also helped revolutionize the world of childrens music. Lately, Raffis songs have focused on ecological and social concerns, including a music video appearance with David Suzuki. Raffis also an activist, and is the founder of the Centre for Child Honouring, a movement aspiring to create a more humane and sustainable world by focusing on the universal needs of children. Raffi has toured infrequently in recent years, and this family concert in Victoria offers a rare opportunity for fans-turned-parents to introduce their own children to this truly beloved and unique entertainer.
