Cedar High School is closing this year, and the students are raising money to give children in another country access to education and a school in their community. Don't miss this showcase of student talent, raising money for this cause.
This project aims to leave a lasting memory of our school. Our goal is to raise enough money to build a new school in a third world country. We have many initiatives that we plan to take in order to achieve this goal, such as working with Free the Children. Free the Children is a well known, non-profit organization who works in various third world countries such as Nicaragua, Ecuador, Haiti, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Kenya, India, and rural China. They have large corporate sponsors and many volunteers who donate their time and money, therefore the organization does not have many administration costs and the money we raise can be put towards building the school. Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty through what they call the 5 Pillars of Sustainability. This encompasses education, clean water and sanitation, agriculture and food security, alternative income and health. We are working towards the pillar of education. We plan to raise $10,000 to build a school in an underprivileged community in one of these countries.
