Opening concert of Christ Church Cathedral's Seventh Annual Summer Organ Series of three Friday evening recitals.
The series launches on June 6th with Michael Gormley, the cathedrals music director. He dedicates this recital to the memory of Hellmuth Wolff (September 3, 1937 November 20, 2013), and will perform some of his favourite pieces that highlight the many different voices of the organ. Since Mr. Gormleys arrival at Christ Church Cathedral in 1984, a strong following has developed for his solo organ performances and this one will be greeted with great anticipation.
The cathedral began presenting these summer recitals to celebrate the 2005 completion of the largest organ ever built by the distinguished firm of Hellmuth Wolff & Associates of Laval, Quebec. Since then, some of the worlds finest organists have been drawn to Victoria to explore the unique tonal possibilities of the magnificent instrument, further enriching the musical treasure Christ Church Cathedral offers to Victoria.
Concert includes music by Bach, Clrambault, Buxtehude, Pachelbel, Franck, Prt, Haydn, Locklair, Vierne
