"Catching the Light" opens in February 2015 featuring the works of Mary Hicks (Metal Sculptor) and Leslie Dunsmore (Painter). Both Denman Island artists have been working over the Winter exploring the variant qualities of light - reflective, illuminating, quiet, and bright-. Mary's sculptures show a vitality of light that shines from within her woven copper. She produces sculptures that incorporate wover copper, woven photographs, mixed media and enamelled panels. Leslie's constructed landscapes connect the viewer to a "sense of place," the silence within the magnificience of towering mountains and rolling grasslands.
