Carving on the Edge presents: The Wood Speaks Festival Weekend

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 10am � 5pm daily

"The Wood Speaks" features free, drop-in carving workshops and demos for all ages. Workshops include carving masks, turned burls, drums, bows, lino prints and more. Artists will be marketing their work as well as demonstrating.

Artists at Work

Turned burl carving: Keith Plumley will have both turned and unturned burls for carving, ask him about sharpening tools. Drop in welcome.

Traditional bow making demonstration: Dan Law will demonstrate various techniques used for making traditional wooden bows. Hands-on participation will be encouraged.

Lino�Print making with Marika Swan: Marika Swan will guide you through making a lino print, including a printed card. Afternoon at 1:30, two hours to produce a print.

Carving tools and their applications: Robinson Cook drop in workshop, you are encouraged to give it a try.

Mask-making with Nuu-chah-nulth master carver Mark Mickey. Rattle making with George Hunt Jr. and Qwaya Sam, both respected Nuu-chah-nulth carvers.



The Carving on the Edge Festival takes place August 29 to September 14 and showcases traditional and contemporary west coast wood carving with exhibits, forums, feasts, family programs and demonstrations.
