Carving on the Edge presents: Paddle Making Workshop with Carl Martin

3 days: September 4 to 7. 10am to 4pm daily.

Carl takes his students into the refinements of the working Nuu-chah-nulth paddle, a revered design. Carl Martin has been carving canoes and paddles, as well as museum quality Nuu-chah-nulth artifacts since the 1960�s, and along with his brothers Joe and the late Billy Martin, is responsible for keeping the art of canoe-making alive in British Columbia.

Workshop fee: 3 days � $225 includes cedar wood. Yew wood is an additional $75, please indicate wood preference.

The Carving on the Edge Festival takes place August 29 to September 14 and showcases traditional and contemporary west coast wood carving with exhibits, forums, feasts, family programs and demonstrations.
