Grant Writing Workshop for Visual Artists
Are you an individual visual artist or crafter looking for grants to pursue your work? Uncertain about grant applications requirements? Discouraged because your applications are not successful?
This one day hands-on workshop is designed for individual visual and craft artists. Competition for grant funds is keen, and by improving your understanding of the process you can increase the success of your applications.
An overview and guidance in preparing grant applications will be followed by working through some sample grant applications to understand the process from the point of view of juries used by the funding agency. The workshop will focus on applications for British Columbia Arts Council grants, but the principles and are similar for other sources.
Walter Quan, shares his 30+ years of experience as a program officer with the BC Arts Council during which time he has handled, now, thousands of grant applications. A University of BC graduate in Music and Commerce, Walter also has experience from the applicant side of the table from his years with various arts organizations in Vancouver doing administration, marketing and publicity.
