Secure your Lifeline Today! Your radio is one of the most important safety features on your boat as well as a very useful device.
The Maritime Radio Course is a four evening course and teaches emergency radio procedures and everyday operating procedures to you and your family. The course prepares you for the Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Examination. Passing the exam qualifies you for your certificate which is required by law to operate a maritime radio. Instructors trained in marine search and rescue present this course and illustrate how the radio is properly used in distress situations to protect you and your family on the water. Students will learn the phonetic alphabet and practice various types of distress communications. Digital Selective Calling (DSC) featured on many VHF radios is included in the course.
Topics include:
- Maritime mobile service; radio procedures and systems
- Distress, Urgency and Safety Communications
