Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS) is a non-profit, community organization that is operated by volunteers dedicated to providing safe boating education to communities across Canada. Nanaimo Power and Sail Squadron has been providing safe boating education to our community since 1956.
This year CPS is celebrating its 75th Anniversary with one special flag going west from Toronto through every squadron to the Pacific coast, and another is going east to the Atlantic coast. Nanaimo Power and Sail Squadron will be holding its CPS 75th Anniversary Flag Celebration at the Pioneer Waterfront Plaza (PWP). Below is a description of the planned events:
Sandwich board on lower walkway to give location of event
Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary to deliver flag by boat to wharf in front of PWP
Sea Cadet Honour Guard
Nanaimo Power and Sail Officer to receive CPS Flag
Dignitaries and Past Commanders to be present to raise the flag on the PWP flag pole
Dignitary Speeches
Demonstration dance
Nanaimo Power and Sail Squadron tent for information about safe boating
Large tent set up
Very small sailboat to hold ice and cold drinks
Cake and cold pop to be served
Background music for after cake cutting
Large TV screen with CPS events and information
We invite all past and present members as well as the general public to our celebration.
