A special evening concert featuring world premieres of three works!
Program and features:
Performers: Cathy Fern Lewis (soprano), Robert Holliston (piano), Marten Continuum ConsortBonham (cello), Continuum Consort (Elizabeth MacIsaac � soprano, Emily Nagelbach � flute, Kay Cochran � viola, and Douglas Hensley � guitar), and with dance improvisation by Lori Hamar of triPOD dance collective.
3 WORLD PREMIERS
Piano Sonata No. 1, by Brian Fremlin, first two movements, performed by Robert Holliston. Brian is a VCM student studying with the VCM�s Composer in Residence Stephen Brown, and his composition won 1st prize in the 2013 CFMTA National Student Composer Competition.
A Through Line, by Linda Bouchard (Canadian Composer, living in San Fransisco), performed by Continuum Consort
Ghosts III, by John Armstrong (Canadian Composer, living in Ontario), performed by Continuum Consort with improvised dance by triPOD dance collective
Other works to be performed include:
Walking, by Rowan F. Hensley
Six Chansons, by Nicholas Fairbank
Canadian Art Songs, by Harry Somers, Rudolf Komorous, Chris Reiche, Linda C. Smith, and Joni Mitchell
The evening features performances of works by some amazing living Canadian composers, including Joni Mitchell!
