Campbell River Roundtable - Employee Culture, Employee Engagement, and Recognition CPD

Hours: 1.5 Event Summary: HR practitioners gather and discuss a specific topic related to the field of Human Resources. A Roundtable Leader guides participants through the chosen topic for sharing of knowledge, strategies, lessons-learned, and practical tips, tools, and techniques. Participants will be encouraged to actively engage in the discussion, ask questions, and provide real scenarios.

Topic: Employee Culture, Employee Engagement, and Recognition Back in the day, people considered the foundational ‘personnel’ work to be recruitment, compensation, performance management, training… Looking at our current reality, the real foundation is less tangible, and much less transactional

– Employee Culture, Employee Engagement, and Recognition. This is what differentiates a business not only as an employer, but also in its relationship with its customers – and ultimate sustainability and success. This session will feature some successes and learnings, opening to a roundtable to share ideas, questions and experiences.

Roundtable Facilitator: Ilke Bene, AVP of Human Resources, First West Credit Union, Duncan. Regarded as nothing less than a “guardian of equity,” Ilka Bene’s HR career spans 32 years, the last 15 of which she has spent supporting and mentoring employees with Island Savings Credit Union. Maintaining that equity was top of mind during the three years surrounding the merger of Island Savings headquartered in Duncan, BC and First West Credit Union—and Bene’s experience and exceptional leadership skills were integral to effectively managing the transition and its impact on the employees.

Roundtable Lead: Kirstie Stewart, Case Manager for North Island Employment Foundations Society, is a passionate HR professional now offering her skills from a previous life as a Recruiter to job seekers and employers, through a variety of dynamic employment services. As a coach, she is excited to be a part of shifting perspectives for her clients through directed job search skills development. She shares her strong belief in value added techniques such as goal setting, strategic planning, targeted resume building and much more. As a CPHR Candidate and an experienced HR enthusiast, she leads the Campbell River round table events as a co-chair with Leslyann Komljenovic.
