Camerata Choir welcomes new members!

Camerata Singers is a fun, energetic and enthusiastic community choir for men and women singing a wide variety of music, including classical, folk, spiritual and pop. The group began in 1998 with 16 members and conductor Marilyn Wuis. Today, Camerata Singers is 20 strong, led for the past twelve years by the talented Marian Smith. Marian will act as teacher and conductor for the fall session which culminates in a Christmas concert, in partnership with the Nanaimo Youth Choir.
For our spring 2015 session, we welcome back Leah Hokanson as our artistic director. Leah is involved in the music scene here in Nanaimo and on Gabriola Island where she resides. Under her direction last spring, the choir enjoyed exposure to new and different sounds along with new musical techniques.
The choir presents a second concert, usually in May. The music is based on a theme, with past concerts featuring music from the forties, the British Isles, Canadian composers, and �music of the night�. Other choir activities include carol singing at local malls during the Christmas period and singing for residents at seniors� homes.
Camerata is a friendly group and we welcome new members in all voices, especially those who love to sing and have some sight reading ability. We extend an invitation those interested to come to experience a couple of practices with us!
