Butchart's Summer Festival presents: David Vest
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
David Vest brings rocking boogie woogie piano to the Butchart Gardens on July 20.
This open-air concert takes place on the Concert Lawn stage. Come sit on a bench, or bring a blanket and sit on the lawn.
The summer entertainment program is part of your general admission ticket. There is no extra charge for lovely evenings on the Concert Lawn or for Fireworks.
David Vest is a fabulous, foot-stompin’ roots-rocker and boogie-woogie piano player, who can just as effortlessly play beautiful jazz and country blues ballads. His live shows are legendary, and his career probably pre-dates rock and roll itself.
He is a two-time winner of the Maple Blues Award for Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year.
Onstage with Big Joe Turner and opening for Roy Orbison before he was old enough to vote, he later played with blues giants like Bo Diddley, Jimmy T99 Nelson, and Hubert Sumlin. He wrote the first songs recorded by Tammy Wynette.
He has been credited with keeping an important part of Americana alive, and his new release, Roadhouse Revelation, is already being called “a most amazing set of songs” and “a candidate for album of the year.” www.davidvest.ca
