BIRDER’S NIGHT Victoria Natural History Society Mr. Barclay will present a slideshow about burrowing owls in California.
In the first part of his presentation he summarizes burrowing owl natural history, range, abundance and distribution range-wide and in California, breeding strategy, habitat associations and movements in California.
In the second part he discusses its conservation status and addresses the question - why all the concern about burrowing owls in California? He illustrates how management of vacant lands in developing parts of California affects burrowing owls by initially attracting them and then eventually destroying their habitat.
