Brahms Horn Trio & Other Works
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
The " Waldhorn" is Johannes Brahms op. 40 composition for violin, natural horn and piano. Calvin Dyck, Geoff Leader and Carmen Hollett come together to perform this moving work on violin, french horn and piano. It was composed by Brahms after the death of his mother. Brahm said that the opening theme of the first movement came to him while he was walking through the woods. He learned to play the natural horn as a child ( along with the cello and piano) and this may be the reason he chose to write for these instruments.
Some of the other pieces being performed include "Scherzo Concertante" for horn and piano by Vaclav Nelhybel, a Czech-American composer and Nigel Hess' theme music from "Ladies in Lavender" ( and english drama film from 2004).
