Doors: 9pm

We hope that you will join us on Friday, February 5th to experience history in
the making.. Not only will this event celebrate the 65th Jubilee of Bob Marley's birth but also it will be the Canadian debut of Jamaica's ROOTZ UNDERGROUND.

This band has so much going for them and they're bringing solid conscious sounds and messages in tough times in Jamaica and throughout the world. The timing of the show couldn't be more fitting and both Victoria BC Ska Society & Pepperpot are proud to host this band on the eve of Roberta Nesta Marley's 65th Anniversary.

Especially note-worthy on the is Quadra Island's Shane Philip. This isn't the first time we've seen Shane Philip collaborate with other talented reggae artists. As you may remember he also did some dates with Dubmatix in the summer in Tofino and Victoria. Now he will make an appearance on this massive triple reggae bill playing both originals and Marley tunes on his didge. This is a performance that cannot be missed.

And also Nine Mile (the band's name fitting named after the birthplace of Bob Marley) will round out the bill. Nine Mile continue to tour across Canada on a regular basis. Notably Nine Mile's drummer David Tolley finished a long tour with Xavier Rudd this year. On the Island, the band recently played on a sold out show with SubCity Dwellers, Great White Shark and the Novamatics in early October. D'ari - lead singer of Toronto's Nine Mile is happy to play on this bill as he personally knows Rootz Underground and is also from Jamaica.

To have a line-up combination like this isn't the norm. And neither is the fact that Nine Mile have been practicing with ROOTZ UNDERGROUND in preparation for this show in Jamaica throughout December & January. Nine Mile is on the rise and it's only fitting that their inspiration right now is coming straight outta Jamaica. Just in early January Nine Mile played in Kingston to a packed house and were asked to perform at the Jazz Festival by Sharon Burke - one of the top promoters in the country.
