Already have your PCOC? That gives you the very basic knowledge of how to get out on the water safely. The Boating Essentials course provides you with the tools to plan a boat trip and return safely.

We will explain how to steer by compass, how to read a chart and how to avoid dangers along your course, the arts of navigation and conning, how to plot and label a proposed course, digital charting, anchors and anchoring, ropes and hands on knot tying and more.

If a second family member wants to take the course at the same time and share materials we can save you money. The second family member will receive homework book and chart only for an additional $100.00.

The course will be once a week for 8 weeks and the exam on the Sunday following the final night of instruction. There will be a bearings and fixes exercise on a Sunday and if tides and currents are favorable a Sunday cruise to Pirates' Cove.
