In 2015 naturalist and wildlife photographer Michael Ashbee left his home in Victoria for a four-year stint on the other side of the planet—New Zealand. Over the course of this time, he immersed himself in the islands’ unique ecosystem, focusing primarily on the avifauna. Join us as he showcases some of his favourite images and relives his encounters of New Zealand birds-including the discovery of a bird never previously seen in the country.
