Bike Maintenance 201 Clinic: Wheel Truing

Bike Maintenance 201 is designed for the more advanced cyclist who wants to learn how to work on their own bike. At the end of this wheel truing clinic participants will:
- Understand why truing is necessary
- Be familiar with lateral true, radial true, and dishing as well as the way in which these three aspects of wheel trueness affect the bicycle as a whole. i.e. brake adjustment, frame clearance, tire wear, handling
- Learn why proper hub adjustment is essential for proper wheel truing
- Learn the steps in truing a wheel
- Learn how to destress a wheel and avoid spoke wind up
- Learn what tools are needed to true wheels and which tools can be purchased at MEC
- Be aware of MEC�s Bike Shop Services

Bike Maintenance 101 is a suggested prerequisite to this intermediate clinic.
Our advanced, 201 clinics are held every Thursday evening and cost $40 to attend. All clinics are led by trained cycling staff, and the 201 clinics are hands-on, led by one of our mechanics, with a small class size to really get involved and learn a new skill.
