Beyond Slacktivism: Social Media Workshop
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Workshop is part of the 25th anniversary of International Development Week in Victoria.
Learn how to use social media and art as tools for your own activism. The event will involve a workshop on building transnational connections, cross-cultural communication, and the artistry of transformative social action.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Janni Aragon, UVic professor and social media expert, will be facilitating the session on Social Media and Activism. Dr. Aragon was awarded the West Coast Social Media Award for the "Best Use of Twitter" in 2012, and uses social media actively in her teaching, as well as in community-bulding activities. She will be speaking to the ways in which Facebook and Twitter can be employed in activism to share information, make connections, and inspire transformative change across boarders.
Free event. Open to public. Snacks and refreshments provided.
