The International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD) and theDock - Centre for Social Impact are pleased to collaborate with artist Tony Hoare for the opening of his photography exhibit: Betrayed. Portraits of Strength: Images and Stories of Survivors of Human Trafficking.
The artist will present images, a video, a slideshow, and a discussion on the context of global human trafficking and its survivors, followed by a talk led by IICRD on human strengths and resilience. The stories are from Bangladesh, Sierra Leone and Mexico. It is because these stories and portraits illustrate the world-wide nature of human trafficking. The issue seen in its wider context allows us to understand the broad manner that trafficking expresses itself. Different economic circumstances like war time and social conditions all give rise to individual expressions of trafficking. In all societies’ whether they are poor or rich, vulnerable people are subject to exploitation.
**Exhibition available for viewing from November 17, 2015 – January 5, 2016** Limited free tickets available: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/betrayed-portraits-of-strength-tickets-19111005532
