A Concert to Benefit ADRA Canada�s 100 Classroom Project
Saturday Feb 12,2011.Admission by donations,starting at 5:00pm

This year, 33 students at Lakeview Christian School (LCS) in Victoria, BC have set a goal to build a classroom ($5,000) in Afghanistan. After a generous donation from a parent, the students are at $2,600, over halfway to their goal.

Lakeview Christian School (LCS) has partnered with the Resthaven and Victoria Adventist Churches for a fundraising concert on February 12, 2011 at 5:00 pm. Admission is by donation and there will be a silent auction, door prizes, and refreshments. The community is welcome and all proceeds go to ADRA Canada for the 100 Classroom Project. The concert will be held at the Resthaven Adventist Church at 9300 Willingdon Rd. Sidney, BC.

These efforts are part of an ADRA Canada campaign to build 100 classrooms to provide equal educational opportunities for girls in Afghanistan. Hollie Rockerbie, will run with a team from the Victoria Adventist Church in the TC10K on May first, 2011 as part of the fundraising efforts. Fraser Valley Adventist Academy is hosting a 2,5, and 10k Freedom Run 5000 walk/run event on June 26 in partnership with the Running Room.

The 100 Classroom project began after the summer of 2009 when Azalea Lehndorff was inspired to build classrooms for girls in Afghanistan after reading Three Cups of Tea. She gathered a group�of�fellow students from Canadian University College and founded The 100 Classroom Project. Since then, A Better World and ADRA Canada have partnered to make this goal a reality.

If 5,000 people donate or raise $100, 100 classrooms can be built. So far, more than $110,000 has been raised since the launch event in April 2010. There are 39 schools from Ontario, Regina, Central Alberta, Lethbridge, and BC that have heard�the�story�of�what life is like for students in Afghanistan, and have taken action. In May, 2011, the first two schools (16 classrooms), will be opened in Northern Afghanistan. Thousands of Afghan students� lives will be impacted through these efforts.
