Benefit Concert: Nanaimo Tidesmen Barbershop Chorus

The Tidesmen Barbershop Chorus are performing a benefit concert to raise money for two young Afghan sisters now pursuing their education at Vancouver Island University.
The concert will feature new music and old favourites, with the Tidesmen performing alongside invited guests the Heart of the Island Sweet Adelines chorus, and Joëlle Rabu, Nanaimo’s internationally recognized and much loved chanteuse who has sung with the chorus in the past and who has generously offered to be part of the performance.
The sisters, refugees in Pakistan, were at growing risk, in increasingly difficult circumstances and facing the possibility of repatriation to Afghanistan. They were brought to Nanaimo by the Wiltshire Education Society (WES), a non-profit society set up by a small group of Nanaimo and area families committed to bringing them to safety and to seeing them through to degree completion.
The costs of international education are extremely high, and members of WES have been actively fundraising for the past year. Although they have raised significant amounts, they need to raise far more. They can't do it alone. We hope you can help us by attending this benefit concert.
