A lush, passionate and acclaimed new musical about trying not to fall in love. When Onegin, a dashing but jaded aristocrat from St. Petersburg, inherits his uncle’s estate in the country, his arrival sets hearts afire and stirs the embers of jealousy. Even the reclusive young Tatyana falls hopelessly under the spell of the aloof Onegin, and professes her love for him. Will playing with lonely Russian hearts reap heartbreak or romance?

Why I Chose This Play
It’s a musical for the 21st Century. Amiel Gladstone, one of the original forces behind Theatre SKAM, and Veda Hille, one of the country’s most unique composers, teamed up again following the success of A Craigslist Cantata, to create a powerful and memorable score. To quote Amiel and Veda, “In the age of the cynic, where does the romantic fit?” With a cast led by real-life partners Meg Roe and Alessandro Juliani, both the acting and the singing are in excellent hands! —Michael Shamata
